Independent developer Attila Hegedus announced the release and immediate availability of Stroop effect!, his new logic puzzle app for iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch devices. Stroop effect! can serve as both an entertaining and educational app.
Stroop effect! is a fun and effective tool for measuring how quickly the player’s brain responds to conflicting information. There are 3 words displayed on the screen. One word is placed centered at the top of the screen and the other two words are placed in the bottom left and right corners. Each word displays the name of a color. However, the word is not necessarily tinted in the color it denotes. The player needs to select the option whose text denotes the color of the word at the top of the screen. The challenge lies in that the bottom text is not necessarily colored in the hue in which it is represented.
For example, the word at the top of the screen says ‘Green’ and is colored green. The choices at the bottom of the screen are ‘Red’ and ‘Green.’ However, the word ‘Red’ is colored green and the word ‘Green’ is colored red. Despite it being colored red, the correct choice at the bottom of the screen is the word ‘Green’ because it is the color of the word at the top of the screen. Basically, the player is required to indicate the color of the word – not what the word says.

Farseer Games has released Krashlander – Ski, Jump, Crash! for iOS, a major update to their 2D, platform-style, physics-powered ski game. Evil robots have destroyed the world and the player must ski down large mountain slopes and soar over gaping crevices to attack the robots and exact revenge. Utilizing a physics driven control mechanic from an abandoned game called Ski Stunt Simulator, Krashlander challenges players to destroy robots by crashing into them. It is a skill-based game with 40 progressively more challenging levels.
To navigate the game, the player uses a touch surface on the right side of the screen to control the physical posture of the skier. Adjusting the posture will help the skier avoid obstacles, increase speed, or jump off cliffs to take out the robots. Some levels may require multiple runs to destroy the target.
Here is the official trailer to give you a flavour of how Krashlander is played.
“The great thing about Krashlander is you can play each level a little differently,” says Phil Eaves of SlidetoPlay (20 Feb 2013). “You can do flips off of cliffs if you want, or you can play it safe. It’s a game that makes you feel cool when you pull off all the right moves.”

Feral Interactive have a great sale going on in the Mac App Store on Bioshock and Bioshock 2. Both games are on sale for a limited time for $9.99, a full 50% off the regular price. The alternate universal games have been a huge hit on consoles and PCs for many years and now we Mac users get to play!
For those who are not familiar with Bioshock or Bioshock 2, it is set in an alternate 1960s utopian world known as Rapture. It all however has gone horribly wrong and now you get to try to survive. The game is beautifully designed in an Art Deco setting and is a real thinking game, interweaving politics, morality and the human condition.
Oh, and there is carnage. Lots of carnage.
What makes Bioshock intriguing is that you can play the game multiple ways so no two players will play the game exactly the same way.
Bioshock 2 picks up 10 years after Bioshock in the story line where one of the main characters of the original game, Eleanor, is under threat of being genetically altered by a cult that has taken over Rapture. It is a fitting sequel to the original game and is hauntingly beautiful.
And there is carnage. Lots of carnage.
Independent games developer and publisher, Happylatte has just released a major update to their critically acclaimed real-time free-to-play mobile dueling game, High Noon 2. The recent changes bring Gangs, new powerful duel items and extreme missions to the world of this thrilling western epic.
“We’re very excited to bring the Gangs feature to High Noon 2,” says Bjrn Stabell, CEO of Happylatte, “We have an extremely competitive and dedicated player-base, but so far they could only battle for top rankings and rewards on an individual basis.” That didn’t stop players from forming “unofficial” groups outside of the game though, as Stabell explains: “On our forums and social media, it quickly became clear people loved to form groups and battle each other as teams. The Gangs feature is therefore a natural addition based on our player’s feedback.”
