It’s that time of the year! Turkey has been consumed, Christmas trees and Menorahs are being lit and a new update for Angry Birds Seasons is available in the app store for the holiday and winter seasons! That’s right, Rovio has just dropped version 4.0 of Angry Birds Seasons for iPhone and the HD version for iPad into the App Store and it brings us the Arctic “Eggspedition” for the winter 2013.
In this update of Angry Birds Seasons you have 25 new levels along with 4 bonus levels. These new levels take your bird-flingin-pig-poppin fun to the cold air and icy waters of the arctic. Like last year’s update, the 25 levels are arranged in an advent calendar meaning that you get one new level each day before Christmas in December. Yep, that means you have to
play Angry Birds Seasons Every. Single. Day. in December.
Everyone say “Awwww”…. I know, it’s a tough life….
Now if you are impatient and want to unlock all the levels at once, you can do so for an in-app purchase of .99 Cents.
Like previous versions of Seasons, you have the ability to launch birds into the water and have them come up from below to attack those piggies so it isn’t just a matter of working out the physics of the game in the air. You have to do it in the water as well.
Personally I love Angry Birds Seasons. It is one of my favourite version of the Angry Birds franchise and the updates each year make it just that much more fun. It is a constantly changing game and every update is free. Well worth the price of admission.
Angry Birds Seasons for iPhone and iPod Touch is .99 Cents while the HD version for iPad and iPad Mini is $2.99. There are multiple in-app purchases available but none are required to play the game to its completion.

It’s Doctor Who’s 50th birthday, and UK-based app developers Big Ideas Digital are celebrating with the release of their premium Doctor Who: Say What You See app, available on iOS, Android and Kindle Fire platform. Licensed by BBC Worldwide, this brain-melting puzzle game should delight Who fans around the world.
Released today, the app combines the brain-teasing game-play Say What You See, with the international popularity of Doctor Who.
The premium app contains over 150 rebus puzzles related to the show, hidden in three large paintings. Rebus puzzles
(popularized by the TV show Catchphrase in the UK, and found under Lone Star beer bottle caps in the US) are cryptic picture puzzles which suggest words or phrases. So a Doctor Who monster like a Sea Devil might be represented by a letter ‘C’ wearing devilish horns.
Each puzzle refers to a companion, gadget, episode title or monster, and it’ll take a true Whovian to unravel all 150 of them. Solving a puzzle will reward the player with a trivia-filled fact-file, including exclusive never-before revealed secrets.
Painted by Ex-Rare concept artist Ryan Firchau, the artwork takes players on a journey through iconic Doctor Who locations – the home of the Time Lords, Gallifrey, Totter’s Lane (The first place the TARDIS materialised on Earth), and finally, the interior of the TARDIS itself.
The Big Ideas Digital team has worked in close collaboration with BBC Worldwide to ensure the authenticity of the game, and to make sure every rivet on the TARDIS is present and correct. Jon Hamblin, Director, Big Ideas Digital comments:
“There have been many Doctor Who games in the past, but this is the first that covers the entire span of the show’s history, referencing episodes, characters and monsters from every one of its 50 years. If this isn’t the first game to appeal to old-school, hardcore fans just as much as younger fans of modern Who, then I’ll eat my Tom Baker scarf!”
The Doctor Who: Say What You See app is $2.99 and is a universal app for both iPhone and iPad.
Electronic Arts has released a significant new update to Real Racing 3 for iOS that brings a host of changes including the Enzo Ferrari to the car line up. The update, which is available now in the App Store, is just over 1GB in size so it is something you will have to update to over WiFi.
The Enzo Ferrari joins the ranks of the extreme performance cars in Real Racing 3 for iOS and joins with the 458 Spider and 599 GTO for all you Tifosi out there. In addition to the cars there are now Weekly Time Trial Tournaments in the game. This allows you to test your best lap against others around the world to win R$ (the “cash” of the game) and Gold
(The “special cash” of the game).
For those who like to view your race dominating wins, there is now a Race Replays option for you. Here you can view your race with camera and playback controls so you can see just how out-of-shape you were going through Eau Rouge at Spa. Finally there are four new Events series in Real Racing 3 for iOS which brings you over 100 new individual events for you to compete in with your cars.
If you have read AlliOSNews for any amount of time you know that I’m a huge fan of Real Racing 3. This is by far the best racing simulator out there for iOS and when you combine this game with the likes of the new iPad Air, it is all-singing-all-dancing. It is better than a console based racing game in many ways and graphically it is nothing short of impressive.
Real Racing 3 for iOS is a Freemium game so the initial download is free. You can make in-app purchases for R$ or Gold to speed up your car development, hire mechanics and so forth. Those in-app purchases range from $1.99 to $19.99. Note however that I’m up to level 20 in the game and I’ve yet to make an in-app purchase so the game can absolutely be played without making purchases to a large extent.
