This morning Apple has released a new app, AirPort Utility.  This new universal app allows you to manage your AirPort base stations including AirPort Express, Airport Extreme and Time Capsule.

The new app provides a nice range of features including:

  • A graphical overview of your wireless network
  • Get information about connected wireless devices
  • View and set wireless network settings
  • Restart or reset your base station or update the firmware
  • View and update passwords
  • Manage DHCP reservations

Having played with the app for just a few minutes before making this post, this new app is extremely impressive and powerful.  Armed with an iPad, there is really no reason to go to the AirPort utility on my Mac any longer.

The AirPort Utility is a free download in the App Store and does require iOS 5 which is expected to drop later today.
